Advancing Civil Society Development: Regional Forum Held in Nukus
On January 15–16, a Forum of Civil Society Organizations of the Republic of Karakalpakstan was held in Nukus. The event was organized through the cooperation of the Yuksalish Movement and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
The forum aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of civil society organizations in Karakalpakstan, enhance their role in addressing local challenges—particularly those related to youth and women—and promote cooperation among government institutions, universities, and NGOs.
Over the two days, participants discussed the legal framework for civil society activities, media literacy, effective content creation, and cooperation with government bodies and donors. Successful initiatives from Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, and Fergana regions were also presented.
At the conclusion of the forum, the “Nukus Recommendations” were developed to support the advancement of civil society in the region, and key areas for future collaboration were identified.
